James and Beth Wittenberger

Wittenberger James beth

Beth and I met at the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music while I was in the Missionary Aviation Program. We both shared a burden for Missions. We went to Liberia in 1979 where I flew both helicopter and airplane for 11 years doing evangelism and Bible School teaching until the war forced us out in 1990. A transition to a new ministry was necessary after seeing no end to what turned out to be a 14-year war. God burdened our hearts for the ministry of Bibles International (BI) as a way to help people groups, like those we left behind in Liberia, get a Bible in their own language. BI was doing survey work to adopt three of the language groups we worked with when Bible translators Tom and June Jackson were killed and we evacuated. I have been serving as a Text Editor and the Information Systems Coordinator with BI since 1991.
