Baptist Mid-Missions was founded on October 15, 1920. Every year on that anniversary we observe World Day of Prayer to pray for our Mission Family and to remember God's goodness throughout our history. This year's World Day of Prayer event—our 99th birthday—marked the formal start to our yearlong 100thanniversary celebration.
In front of a crowd gathered in Baptist Mid-Missions' Ministry Training Center, BMM President Vernon Rosenau started the kickoff event with an overview of our 100thanniversary celebration events. President Emeritus Gary Anderson was our featured speaker. Drawing from his 26 years as BMM's president, Dr. Anderson recounted key moments in Baptist Mid-Missions’ history. Watch coverage of the event here.
100th anniversary event timeline
In the coming year, we’re planning multiple events to celebrate our major milestone:
Week of March 30, 2020: Missions emphasis on Christian college campuses
April 26, 2020: Thank-You Sunday—an opportunity for churches to show a five-minute video of missionaries expressing thanks for what their support means to them.
July 6-10, 2020: Baptist Mid-Missions' Family Conference—a special praise celebration for our Mission Family as we share a century's worth of stories of how God has used BMM to advance the gospel around the world.
October 15, 2020: Our celebration year will culminate with a Grand Banquet for special guests of BMM. (Because of space limitations, the banquet will be by invitation only.)
Throughout the coming year, check our website and social media channels for stories, posts, and videos. For the next year, Advance magazine will highlight 100 years of God’s faithfulness through changed lives and the growth of Christ’s church around the world. Using Psalm 96:2-4 as our 100thanniversary theme verses, we’ll show our unchanging emphasis on sharing the same gospel with the same goal: declaring the glory of God.
“Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.”
