Mike and Jo Brown

Brown Mike Jo

After a year of serving in the Central African Republic with Baptist Mid-Missions, my first wife, Faye, went to be with the Lord. I was then reunited with a college friend, Jo. After our marriage, the Lord called us to Liberia, West Africa, with BMM. We spent three terms of service. Jo homeschooled our children and worked part time as a nurse. My ministry was church planting and training Liberian pastors. Because of civil war, we were unable to return after our furlough in 1989. Since that time, the Lord burdened us to reach out to those whose lives have been broken and ruined by sin. We have had ministries in two North Carolina prisons and one Tennessee prison. Currently, I serve as chaplain of a jail in southwest Virginia. As we minister each day, we try to follow the Lord’s example to "preach to the poor, heal the broken-hearted and give deliverance to captives, restore sight to the blind, and set at liberty those who are bruised" Luke 4:18.

(The Browns have been emeritus BMM missionaries since 2021, and they continue serving the Lord in retirement.)
