We have served with Baptist Mid-Missions in Taiwan since 1987. We were both raised in godly, Christian homes. Marla was saved as a child and Matt was saved during his first year of Bible college. We both experienced God’s call to missions in different ways, and through our mutual interest in missions, God brought us together in marriage. The Lord blessed us with three children who grew up on the mission field.
In 2002 we planted Cornerstone Baptist Church in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Since then the church has grown and matured but still lacks a national pastor. It is our goal in the next few years to see a trained national assume leadership of the congregation so that we can step away.
Our vision for ministry in Taiwan is to see biblical Christianity take root there geographically and culturally. Chinese culture is complex, challenging to navigate, and hard to penetrate. We are attempting to win and train national believers who are biblically-literate, faithful to Christ’s call to discipleship, and burdened to reach their own nation for Christ.
