Mary Coburn

Mary was born in Whittier, California, and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where she and her family have been faithful members of Leon Valley Baptist Church. Missions has always been central to her life—her maternal grandparents, Bill and Lou Patterson, served over 50 years with Baptist Mid-Missions, and her paternal grandparents pastored in California for many years. Mary trusted Christ as her Savior in 1998 and surrendered to full-time Christian service in 2009.

Mary earned a BA in Biblical Counseling from Bob Jones University in 2016. She then completed a four-month internship in England with BMM, assisted five missionary families there the following summer, and was officially accepted into BMM in July 2018. Prior to full-time ministry, she worked six years in Christian and public education. During deputation, she served in Havant, England, where she built up children’s ministries, led teen outreach, assisted with ladies’ ministries, and mentored young women in the church.

While in England, God laid Ireland on Mary’s heart. She has since been appointed to serve alongside the Staley family in Mallow, Ireland, where her focus will be on ladies’ Bible studies, Biblical counseling, and children’s and teens’ ministries. Mary is currently completing her MA in Biblical Counseling from Bob Jones Seminary and is in the visa process for Ireland.
