God’s Saving Power

MATURING CHURCH

It’s happening in an area highly populated with Muslims. Our missionaries report: “Men that human logic wrote off as hell-bound sinners are accepting the Lord as their personal Savior and are being discipled.”

The BMM missionary pastor in this area has had a longtime calling on his life: helping Muslims find freedom and joy in Christ. In 2001, he began sharing the gospel through weekly radio broadcasts. At first people criticized him, but the broadcasts allowed Muslims to consider God’s truth privately without fear of reprisals.

Little by little, Muslims turned to Christ. The missionaries started a church, and today hundreds have embraced Christ through this ministry and in the four village churches they have planted. The new believers include the head of a clan who was feared for his supernatural powers. After hearing the Christian radio broadcasts, he wholly surrendered his life to the Lord and began attending church each Sunday.

God’s saving power has greatly expanded our missionaries’ ministries and that of other fellowship churches (descended from earlier BMM church plants). Last December, they held a Bible conference that saw 2,035 attendees.

Last fall, the main church held a special service for church members to invite unbelieving family and friends to hear the clear, saving power of Jesus Christ. Over 200 nonbelievers attended (mostly Muslim), and 54 gave their lives to Christ. Even the chief and his eldest son sat in the front row and listened to the message. The missionary pastor says, “It is probably unreasonable to be shocked at what God can do, but at times we are shocked at what God is doing in the ministry here. May His name be glorified forever.”
