A life changed by the power of God in Cambodia

Lalin was 17 years old when BMM missionary Hubert Broeckert called at his family's home, asking if anybody would be interested in having Bible studies to learn about God. He and his family indicated that they would be interested, and regular meetings at their house ensued. Up until then, his family had always been too busy with work and with following their own pursuits to invest time in learning about God. As a result, Lalin had no idea who the God of the Bible was. His family had lived their lives as Buddhists and worshiped spirits, which they feared.

Eventually Lalin also began attending Bible studies that Mary Broeckert was teaching some of the Christian youth in the church. There he learned more about how every person has sin and is in need of a Savior. During one of these Bible studies, one of the young people strongly urged Lalin to make a decision for Christ, reminding him that if he continued to wait until “next time,” it might eventually be too late. At that time he merely smiled, but at the next Bible study, he indicated that he was ready to commit his life to Christ. He finally understood that he had sin and needed a Savior. His younger sister also accepted Jesus into her life after attending children's church for several months.

Since then, Lalin has been a faithful Christian in attending church, studying the Bible on a consistent basis with the Broeckerts, preaching and witnessing at mobile medical clinics, and teaching children at weekly outreaches to other villages. He constantly expresses thanks to God for saving him, and he desires to become a pastor, should God continue to lead him toward that service for the Lord.
