It has been nearly six weeks since the peace of Kenya disintegrated over disputed presidential elections. But hope for an orderly resolution is the highest it has been, according to Stephen and Edna Muindi, BMM’s missionaries in Kenya.
The Muindis have allowed their children to return to school. Long-distance travel is still difficult, but Stephen and Edna can freely shop and conduct banking within their town. Ministry at their church is also carrying on smoothly.
Kenyans appear to be satisfied by current peace talks in which the parties of both the president and the opposition have agreed that the violence must stop and that they must form a reconciliation commission to end tribal fighting. The widespread violence and killings of early January have subsided to only small skirmishes in scattered areas.
The Muindis are grateful for the prayers of God’s people and welcome their continued intercession as peace talks are firmed up and as hostilities are cooled.
