prayer requests january 2012

Alaska: Mike and Jeannette Clark continue to have a service in Iliamna every Sunday night, averaging about 22 people. They try to go to Levelock several times a month and have seen the youth take a greater interest in attending.  The well project in Levelock is still unfinished.  Pray that the company will follow through on their commitment.

Argentina: Youth Camp begins in January.  Please pray with Andrew and Romina Self as they prepare for the event.  Also please pray for those who will be speaking.  May God be glorified.

Brazil: The news from Victory Baptist Church in Osvaldo Cruz, São Paulo, has been very encouraging. Chris and Darcy Vergiels report that two teens were saved in September. The sister of one of their faithful members has come to Christ, and just recently the husband of one of their faithful ladies trusted Christ as his Savior.  Pray for spiritual growth in the new believers.

Brazil: Please be in prayer with Evandro and Erica da Silva. Erica recently started a Bible study with two mothers of young children. Both are from their church and for several months have sought advice and friendship from Erica.

Cambodia: Michael and Julie Carlyle ask prayer for their dry-season evangelism efforts. During dry-season (November—early April) people are at home rather than in the fields. Many of these people have never spoken to a foreigner.  It will take some people a while before they realize that the Carlyles speak Khmer and can have a conversation with them.  Also, the Buddhism, animism, and ancestor worship they know gives practically no framework for understanding the gospel.

It will take time and diligence to explain.  Please pray that the Lord would open hearts to hear the message and that He would draw many to Himself.

Campus Bible Fellowship International, Cleveland, Ohio: Mary Amesbury requests your prayers for the Cleveland State women’s basketball team.  Mary has been cultivating a relationship with the team for about a year now and has prayed earnestly for the salvation of the players and coaches. On November 29 the entire team and all the coaches came to a Christian play in which one of the team members performed.  Mary sat with the team and was able to speak with several girls about their relationship with Jesus.  Pray that Mary would have increasing opportunities to provide spiritual direction to the team.

Dominican Republic: Heidi Van Dyke requests specific prayer for spiritual growth and wisdom for the churches in the Dominican Republic.

Germany: In August several members of Lomax and Linda Skinner’s church in Germany went to Transnistria (a territory of Moldova) to help encourage believers. They are planning to take another work team to the same area in February to provide and install a much-needed kitchen for the camp.

New Zealand: Joel and Beverly Shoaf ask for continued prayer for the youth in their area. They are averaging about 20 teens at their youth meetings each Wednesday night. At least 27 have prayed to trust Christ at the church and school this year. Joel has been doing a weekly discipleship study with four teen boys every Monday after school.  Beverly is getting several of the girls organized to do the same.  Please persevere in praying for the youth of Napier—for salvation and discipleship and that the doors at Tamatea High School would remain open for ministry.

Peru: Jonathan and Julie Stilwell thank the Lord for the 14 Bible college students who graduated on December 10.  Please pray for these graduates as they seek direction for the future.
